Hi all,

I am redoing my brakes, on my 1998 Supercharged Saleen S281. I am going to upgrade to the "Saleen Front" kit from http://www.diskbrakesareus.com. I also need to replace the rear rotors (thats what has spurred me into this upgrade).

Looks like there are two choices, Cobra rears at 11.65", or the GT rears at 10.5". Now, bigger is usually better, but Saleen was happy with the 10.5" rears. The Cobra Kit requires changing the rear flange, which I expect is a lot more work, and I just want to be sure its worth it.

So, anyone actually converted a GT to Cobra rear? Any comments/suggestions on the performance difference?

If I'm not mistaken the GT rotors are Non-vented and the Cobra's are vented...When I say vented I don't mean slotted...Vented rotors look more like two solid rotors glued together with fins in the middle...

Vented rotors help disapate heat better....

I bought the 13" Baer Eradispeed +1 rears for my '01. Much to my dissapointment, they are NOT vented like i thought they would be. I didn't return them since I have my '85 for open track use. They do fill up the 18" wheels nicely though and defenitely has bling bling appeal. The Cobra rears would defenitely be better performance wise.

If you don't plan on doing any open tracking, you may want to just skip the rear upgrade and use that money for something else.

My Saleen has the 13" brembos in front and cobra 11.65" in the rear. They look good. They are vented but I want to change to a 13" eventually. Prevouis owner tracked the car alot and it worked good for him.

johnny saleen , hes brakes look bad ass. I would said go with the cobra brakes for better performance.

Thanks for the compliment. I want the 13" in the back also soon. The chrome saleens make the car look a lot better now.
