the guy that initially sold me the car said that the previous owner put 3:55s in there. but now that i took the diff. cover off. i saw ford on the ring and pinging. i know it could be ford racing but im not sure... this is what was around the ping (LZ E7TBB) does anyone know if they are stock or 3:55s???

Count the teeth on the ring gear and the pinion gear, then divide the ring gear teeth by the pinion teeth and you will know what ratio it is.

there is a pretty easy way to figure this out. Jack the rear up, put the car in neutral, rotate the tire until the vavle stem is at 12'o clock(or 6, which ever you prefer), and rotate it one full rotation, noting the number of times the driveshaft makes a full rotation. i.e.-if you have 3.55 gears, the driveshaft will spin 3 and a half times when you spin the tire one full rotation. Good luck!

If it's an FMS gear set the part number will show on the top of the pinion gear...

The part number also designates the gear ratio
For example: M-4209-G355 =3.55 gears

Just check your rpm!
If your car is not an auto, 3.55s should give you 2500rpm @80mph on 5th gear.
With 3.27 you are more closer to 90mph at 2500rpm.

If you want some 3.55s I have a pair for sale. $80
[Cool]
Find out your tire/rim size and use a TireCalc or open up the rear end cover and look at the pinion to see if anything stamped on them. FMS has their logo stamped into their gears with their ratio size. My FMS Gears have "Ford" and "355" stamped into them.
