You can buy some metal polish like Mothers or another brand from your local parts store...You can only polish aluminum, if the chrome is bad on your wheels you might need to have them re-chromed...

What is the condition of the rim? Flaking, oxidation, water spots, scratches? With water spots, I had good results with Mothers metal polishing cream. Nothing fixes flaking, that's when the wheel is done and needs a re-chroming - which is somewhat pricey. Superficial scratches on the clear coat can be buffed out on chrome, but deep buffing marks cannot be hidden (such as using a dirty cloth, wrong stage polish, or too much cleaning agent, coarse sponge, etc).

Try vigorously cleaning the wheels with Meguiars wheel cleaner (pink stuff) drying, and applying some Mother's polish with a new, non-scratching lint-free cloth.

thanks for the replies, very helpful, actually the chrome is in really good shape, but i do believe there are some water spots. my buddy justs wants to try and get them a little more shiny, for this upcoming car show. trying to see what his options are, and so far so good.
thanks again
