I'd recommend a general tune up on the motor and fuel system. We would pull the EGR valve off and give it a proper cleaning, change spark plugs and wires. Verify proper fuel pressure, change fuel filter and other basic tune up items. This should fix your fuel issues and also point out whats eating up your fuel

Take the vacuum line off the fuel pressure regulator and see if fuel comes out. It may have an internal leak. (or someone could have siphoned some gas off last night )

keep your foot out of it a little more

I feel your pain with your gas problems, first off you are not getting 6 miles to the gallon, you're getting about 13 cuz your tank only hold I think 12 gallons of gas. I gotta figure out why my stang is wasting so much to, but I think its a faulty fuel pressure regulator. gotta check it with a gauge. yeah but I only get about 160 to a tank, and hey does your reach half empty at about 60 miles??? anybody have a fuel pressure gauge lying around

All I can say is start getting used to it.
I get around 160 normally but I keep my foot ON IT, with hardly any freeway driving.
Also don't use better than 87 if you don't need it!

so drop tops have a smaller gas tank? Cause last time I filled my tank it was 14.3 gallons @ $31.00.
As for your eating of the gas...I would do everything suggested above...not only for the problem you seem to have but because you just bought the car and its always a good idea to do a bisic tune up once you have a new used car. Do you smell a large amount of fuel inside the car while driving....I'd first check the top of the intake for fuel...might have leaky injectors and/or orings.

Um... Ok....If you paid $30 for a tank of gas, and paid around $2.20 for 91 you would've bought 13.63 gallons....For 160 miles and using 13.6 you would get 11.7 MPG....NOT 6MPG!!!!....
Let us know EXACTLY how many gallons you put in to your car and exactly how many miles you go and then we might even get more MPG outta your car and not even do anything to it....
BTW~Jdub07 the tank sizes are the same on a convertable as they are on a hatchback or Notch...

Pretty sure the tank is a 15 gallon

BTW~I know my 94 gas tank would hold 15.4 gallons...

after checking the above things and it's still bad check your TPS and you may want to change the o2 sensors.

My car fills up about 12 gallons at the last bar or lower.

using a dollar mark for gas milage isnt too accurate either, since gas ranges from $1.95 - $2.55 right now.
