I threw my motor together to get my car running, so please excuse the mismatched combo. I am running a stock short block, ported stock heads and an F-303 cam. I upgraded the valve springs with a Trick flow upgrade. All I had laying around was stock rockers so I bolted them on and adjusted them according to the chiltons manual. With each cylinder on base circle, torqued down rocker arm. I fired it up and there is a lot of noise from the valve train. Are they adjusted wrong or do I need new rockers for the increased lift and aftermarket springs? Thanks

You might have piston to valve clearance issues. Thats a pretty good cam. I'd change the rockers to some Crane Pro Magnum's and also check pushrod length with an adjustable pushrod to get the proper geometry for your valve train. First check your piston to valve clearance as you might end up bending a valve if your not careful

I'm 99% sure that the valve springs you have are too stiff for your stock lifters...
Also, after "zero lash" how much of a turn did you get on the pedestal rocker bolt?...I always like to get 3/4-1 full turn, which is about .030 which is exactly half the length of the hydraulic lifter internal plunger travel...

Trickflow says that the valve spring rate is designed for HR lifters. On the adjustment I just torqued the bolt down to 22lb ft. I am going back to adjust them again cause your the second person who said thats not exactly how to do it. Does anyone on here know for sure if the .512/.512 lift of a f-303 will clear (piston to valve)? I would realy like to eliminate my worst nightmare.
