Since i bought my car, i noticed that that when i turn the steering wheel all the way doing a U turn either to my left or right , the inside of the wheel and tires rub on the arms.

what can i do to fix this???

Thanks guys [Confused]

PS: i just installed New Ball joints, sway bar busings and has an alignment done.

What kind of wheel/tires are you running? Sounds like the wrong offset. The only right way to cure it is to run the right offset wheel. The quick fix is to either run a spacer on the front rotors or to put limiting inserts into the rack

I doubt those are the same series tires that are supposed to go onto those rims. 60 Series tires are thick [Eek!]

That's the stock size, buddy....
[Wink]

I wonder if you're just running too much negative toe?....I'd take it back to the alignment shop and ask them to look at it again...If it didn't do it before there should be no reason why it should do it now...

the previous owner had A new steering rack installed. iwas just checking through the receipts he gave me.

but can that affect how much the wheels are suppose to open meaning to make turns?

If it's a new steering rack there may be no rack limiters in there at all. You should have one on either side. When I put 17x8 wheels on my '90 I had to add a second to either side to keep from hitting the A-arm at full lock U-turns. Also, the stock ones that were in there were pretty chewed up so I have two new ones on either side. No more rub but my turn radius sucks. You may just not have them there.

If you peel the rubber boot back that covers the rod (held on by a sumbitch clamp) you should see a yellowish (off white) nylon ring around the rod. It's split so that you can slip it on the rod. If there isn't one on either side that's your problem.

The Ford part number is N804842-S. I only know that because I still have a pack of 4 right here. Let me know if you can't find them, I'll hook you up.

Sean.

If you got a new rack, I completely agree with Sean.... [patriot]

Damn. Don't trip about the rubbin. I have 17x9 rims on my stang(89) that shit rubs! I have cuts in my A-arms from the rims hitting it when I turn.
