Anyone ever remove one without removing the axle?

This is on a stock mustang 91 8.8 with drums.

Pull the drum, use a big hammer...and you're done. If you hit the stud squarely, it will come out really easy. To put the new one in, insert the new stud from behind, stack up some washers (around 3/4" thick) then put a standard lugnut on backwards. Tighten it down. This will pull the stud back into the axle. Make sure you use the correct stud with the correct knurl.

No, normally there is only enough room to squeeze in a standard length stud. The brake backing plate (drums) is where the problem lies. You *may* be able to with a disc setup.

i have 5 lug with disc in the rear, think i could do it jon????

Well that took a whole 10 min and and extra 15 driving around because the jackasses at kragens gave me the wrong one. Thanks Guys.

I'd measure your clearances and then compare them to the length of the stud you'd like to use. It may fit, give it a shot!

It should be no problem...I installed longer studs on TRYPAZ's 99 GT and the only problem we ran into was the ABS ring getting in the way...I took the c clips off the end of the axles and pulled the axles out...They we had to have a neighbor press on and off the ABS ring on each axle...It's cool the diff fluid was dirty anyway...
