Getting my exhaust done on my 89 5.0 gt tommorrow. Does anyone have any suggestion before i go through with it. I am not going to mess with the stock h-pipe for now i am just looking for a good set up and what type of mufflers. and also which would give a more muscle car sound turn downs right after the muffler or have pipes go to the back a turn down at the bumber of my gt. Any suggestion will help alot and i will post my outcome thanks

turn downs will give you a louder more rumbly sound. Pipes give a more *looking for the right word* consistant, tuned sound.

Dumps ARE louder, BUT SOUND LIKE "SHIT", inside and outside of the car.

.02

Want a good sound with the cats on, I would go with a new 2 1/2" cat back with ONE chamber flowmasters.

i would say to order your catback and istall yourself most shops try and charge around 220-340 to weld on flowmaster mufflers....thats around thye price of a flowmaster catback from summit. and if they make the slp loud mouth for your car i would get that

I ran this setup on a cammed 306 with shorties, no cats, and pipes all the way out, and it sounded pretty good. i put turndowns and it was stupid loud and i hated it.

now i have 100 more cubic inches, 1 3/4 longtubes, into magnaflows with turndowns. i love it.
