with heads, cam, and intake package....how much hp difference is there between a 302 and a 306? Does the bore really give a ton of hp?

You guys aren't helping any. [Confused] Should I build a 302 or should I bore it to 306? How big of an improvement is a 306?

sorry. 306 if built correct will make more power if compared to the same builder with the same parts.

The wear on your block (the bores) will determine whether or not you'll go 306. It's an over-bore size, you'll see no difference in the HP department.

no hp difference in boring your block, its simply just that. [patriot]

In a word, no.

You may have some gains on the top end, it would probably only be noticeable on a dyno. As it was said earlier, if the cyllinders will hone, it isn't worth the cost to bore it.

There is no real difference between a BUILT 302 and a BUILT 306. However there can be a big difference in power between a STOCK 302 and a BUILT 306 shortblock.

doesn't matter, if you get a new block it will be a 302 if you reuse your block it will be a 306 and you'll see the same numbers [patriot]
