After about 10 to 20 minutes my engine wants to shut down. The oil pressure shoots down to the red line and wants to stay there until my foot hits the gas. I have a stock oil pressure gauge. Somebody told me I have a bent crank at one point and that was why my harmonic balancer goes out every one and a half years or less. What should I do. I also have knocking. There is a built 302 bored to 306 for sale on E bay with oil pump, timing chain and a few other goodies for 900. should I just get that and have someone drop it in. I don't want to pull the engine out again if I put in an old motor. Also I can get a long block for about a 1100 also with goodies. what should I do? [Frown]

I'd say buy that 306. That's pretty cheap...

Or you can buy a stock motor for around $500 or less and throw that in there. That'll work just fine. [patriot]

I wouldn't buy a motor from e-bay. Buy an used stock motor and drop it in because your motor seems to be finished.
