My stang seems to be getting pretty crappy gas mileage, like 60 miles per half tank. I just had a full tune up and I dont floor it, so what do u think might be a culprit or problem, let me know thanks

You may need new 02 sensors, or you could be leaking fuel.

Nope jus had two new o2 sensors put in, and if it would leak fuel wouldnt I smell it or see it?? I know these things arent supposed to waste that much gas are they??!!

Did you change injectors or fuel regulators during the tune up? Unless you are gushing gas, you probably won't be able to smell the leak unless you are under the hood or near the source of the leak. Check your O-rings around the injectors if you did mess with them lately.

I'll check tomorrow, thanks [burnout]

Check your fuel pressure with a gauge. Too much and you will be running rich. Also make sure that the fuel filter was changed. Cleaning the injectors at the fuel rail is also a fix for this. If you have a chip on the computer that also could be doing this. A chip alters fuel and could be giving the motor too much. Good luck

What type of plugs. Autolight has an issue with plugs being bad right out of the box. I had three plugs bad the last time I used them

no I got msd wires and different plugs, and if it might be the fuel pressure, where the hell do I get a fuel pressure gauge and if a shop can do it for me, where at. oh and is not leaking any fuel, but it might because Im using 91 octane fuel, im going to use 89 and we;ll see what happens

91 will get you better mileage if anything, don't change that. There has to be a leak somewhere or you fuel level gauge might be faulty. Mine seems to rush to the halfway mark at 60 miles also and then never hits empty until 180+. You might just want to stick it out for this tank and see where that gets you. Also if you are driving more on the street in stop and go traffic rather than driving on the freeway, your mileage will be this bad with any V8. [Frown]

What is your timing set at? Does the car ping?

Switching from 91-89 will NOT solve your problem - look elsewhere to solve it.

Is this the first tank of gas where you have gotten bad mileage?

park car start it and while its running check under the hood for leaks and smells. I bet its your injectors. As for the octane most use 91. As said before 89 or 91 wont be why you have lame mpg. Is your car stock? how long have you had it? When did this start with the gas? Wanna race me? How many miles are on it? How does the car run, idle, rev and accel? [burnout]

ok answering few questions, car does not ping at all, it revs and runs fine. I just recently got the car and this is the second tank I've put in. It went through the first tank the same way. I have stock timing. only mods are flows, thats it. oh and up to possibly race and if not then I mite know someone who could be interested, P.S. if any of u guys are going to be at the WC fords photoday at treasure island Im a be there, thanks for the input though. I'll check the injectors tonite since its been raining. [patriot] [patriot]

WELL, IM am almost at E level for fuel, and I have 120 on the odometer! Im going to fill it up tomorrow and see how many gallons go in, but this time im putting the cheap stuff, but the injectors are fine, no leaks, Im just guessing im running it to hard, but is 135 miles on a tank of gas with combined city and freeway driving considered crappy?? I appreciate ur guys suggestions and input, oh and Im still down.. [burnout] [burnout]

Well I fill up with chevron 87. sucked up 12.6 gallons, and 25 dollars out my pocket, but so far I;m noticing maybe not the best throttle response be maybe a little better mileage. 15-17 mpg in the city? is that considered cool mileage? i;ll keep you guys up to date [patriot] [patriot]

Posted by DropTopFox (Member # 1689) on :

15-17 in the city is good, but you're getting no where near that, you are barely getting 10 [Frown]

well, it looks like this tank lasted me a little longer, I got about 150 to 155 miles to this tank on 87 gas. ( and I ran it hard a couple of times) so I guess 87 is going to work for me!! thanks everybody for your input, i appreciate it

I've squeezed 300+ miles out of mine once. Sounds to me like something is a-miss with your car. Even if I run hard on a whole tank I'm getting close to 200+ miles.
