ok something is very wrong here
here is the case...
91 gt 5 speed
iam driving along and i stab it.. and when the car gets to about 3 grand it starts to make a lous rubbing kinda girnding noise... and the the car starts to shutter and shake and jolt really hard... so i figure hey maybee the clutch is slipping.
so i push the clutch pedal in and rev it to about 3,500 and it shakes real hard and dies... like iam losing fuel but it doesn't stutter it shakes then dies...
restart the car try it again same thing...
what in the world could be the source of this prob..
any help or idea's would be greatly apprecitated !
thanks guys

The first thing that comes to my mind is the spout connector on your distributor fell out....
The spout connector is the little plastic conector that clips into a harness right by your distributor....
If its not pluged in you will run base timming (10* for instance) even at 3500rpm, which is not enough....
Is the noise more physical?...Like something is actually falling off?...

Check your harmonic balancer.

My harmonic balancer was cracked on my 95 and it would shake rattle and rol but it would never die. Just felt like I was driving on railroad tracks with 1000 lb. front springs until I got it fixed. Sounds more electrical or fuel related to me

thanks for the advice.... i just did a tuen up on it sat... maybee i messed the timing up some way some how i should double chck that.
a few people think it might be something electrical as well.....

the noise it makes sounds kinda like really worn brake pads would sound against a rotor.... slight rubbing noise...

my buddy says he was having a very simular prob and it was the result of his cats being clogged solid

welp i disconnected the battery, will reconnect 2morrow, hopefully the reset will do the trick
Posted by highofftiresmoke (Member # 2159) on
:
ok comp reset
i ran it and it was fine...
then i noticed a loud sqeeking under the hood and the car started bogging again... and my idle dropped.... the ac pulley is sqeaking very loud.. iam thinking it may be starting to seize up and tht might be bogging the down the motor if it keeps catching and then freeing up again.. what do you guys think ?

:
yeah... sounds reasonable to me
take off the serp belt and then rev the engine, see if it still takes a dump at 3k

:
since the ac pulley starting making that loud ass noise... its bogging every rpm... and it isnt very responsive at idle.. and the idle is lower... like 600rpm.. and shakey...

:
fuel filter isnt the prob
neither are the cats...
what else....

run a short belt to bypass the a/c.

i temporaliy removed the euntire belt.. and the car acted the exact same way.. thats not he prob either...
