Im curious as to how much power mustangs really put down...???

I pose this ? because of GM lying their a$$ off to us (F and Y body owners) of the power that our cars put out... (I have a 1998 Camaro SS)..

neway, GM CLAIMED [Wink] , that my car put out 320 horses.. however, upon dynoing our vehicles, we find somewhere from 305-326 RWHP!!!! (auto and manuals respectively)...

so, is FORD telling the truth, or is the 260 Horsepower front, being that, up front???

thanks..

who's LS1 dyno'd at 326 rwhp stock? did it trap like a '00 Z06 as well? say 112 mph that way? dyno's have to be calibrated too...

anyways yeah it's pretty accurate for the 2V, but the '03 cobra dyno'd around 370-380 rwhp stock, probably a little underrated.

actually a 2002 35th Annervesiary SS Camaro dynoed at 326 REAR wheel horsepower, 338 REAR wheel torque.. and with a SLIGHT leaning of the computer with LS1 edit, it put down 344/353 [Eek!] [Eek!] [Eek!] [Eek!] [Eek!] [Eek!] [Eek!]

but back to the subject.. what do mustangs put down?

what about the 94-95, 96-98, 99-03 Gt's...?

what kinds of actual power do they hold..?

p.s. cobra's for that matter of those years as well...

for rates there cars at the flywheel pretty accurately, except the 03+ cobras are under rated. my friends 00 z28 put down 317 to the wheels with a cutout and lid... [Frown]
my car makes 200hp stock

94-95's were toned down, they make about 195 to the wheels, 96-98 you can expect the average 200 from a GT. 99-03 I've seen 235-250. Ford puts out ratings in motor hp. So as far as rear wheel goes, they usually underrate their cars. Same with GM. However, you rarely find a bone stock anything these days so I'd say the average fox body theses days throws down at least 240. I think this is what you are looking for [patriot]

how come the comaro puts down so much HP stock but still runs 13's.. if a 02 GT made 320 HP NA it would run low 12's..

this is the 326 rwhp freak camaro? was there a 300# hot mama in the passenger seat and that explains the trap speed? or are you talking about an SLP SS camaro
which is the equivalent of what? an exhaust, lid, and other bolt-on 'maro? awesome, but misleading. Trap speed is still low anyways.

That's what? at least 5 or 6 tenths and 4 mph slower than the fastest production stock '03 cobra? good for you guys [Razz]

Stock radials can really hide power at the strip. Spinning in mutliple gears mean lost mph and ET. Drag racing is all about TRACTION first, then power...

I would like to see the slipps for this run...I don't believe a stock SS on street tires will run 13.1?
????I could be wrong????

my most recent HP reading on my G-Tech Pro was 244...but thats just from a G-Tech Meter and they aren't near 100% accurate. Still it made me feel good as the car was on very level ground and calibrated perfectly at zero. I did a total of 3 runs in 15 min. intervals to get the best educated guess on the horse power.

First run 249
Second run 246
Third run 242

So I guestimate I have 'maybe' 244 rearwheel. But again its just from a G-Tech meter.

Oh and I think "stock" depends on the individual. I feel my car is stock but have a ton of bolt on's. [Whoo Whooooo!]

what is this, "good for you guys"... ? Atleast GM didnt have to strap a supercharger to their cars to make them fast.. give OUR cars 9lbs of boost and we'll walk the crap out of a "03 Cobra"..

OK... But what cars are still being made? NOT CAMARO'S

Posted by SSmokinmaro (Member # 3897) on :

we'll see what "pops" out of GM in 2007.. then we wil see what's up...

in the meantime, it's nice to know that Ford got it's act together and finally made the Slowbra fast...

that's the funniest thing.. everytime u make a Ford Guru realize that their cars are slow... they have to reassure themselves of one thing, "they dont make the mean old camaro anymore, so ha!"...um, ok.. as i said, we'll see what happens in 2007....
