I have been having trouble with my car (a 1988 GT hatchback with 145,000 miles) starting. At first I thought it was the battery but I had that checked out by Sears auto and they said it and the alternator were good. I then figured that my alarm was causing some of the trouble so I dissconnected it and for awhile the car was starting up and driving just fine. Now the car will not start up at all without a jump. It makes weird wherring noizes and all the power for lights and even the power door locks wont work. I just had to spend $900 bucks to fix the steering column and an oil leak and some other little things up front, so Id like to find out what is wrong so I don't have to waste more time and money. Thanks for all the help in advance.

Matt
