well, I was going to do the compression test today, but I noticed that both #4 and #8 sparkplugs have oil on them! [Frown]
Is there any way to tell where the leak maybe coming from?
Thanks guys [patriot]

If you found oil on the electrode of the sparkplug you might have bad valve seals...Oil from the valve seals in the cylinder heads will leak down and go into the cumbustion chambers....

well, I found the oil around the threads of the 2 plugs, more so on #4 than #8.
What would you reccomend I do?
thanks man! [patriot]

Do the compression test.....Make sure you do it when the engine is warm(not hot you'll burn yourself) and always hold the throttle wide open when you are cranking the engine to get the correct compression numbers....

those spark plugs sound like a valve cover leak to me. if the oil is only on the threads

if it is a valve cover, this would be the most opportune time for me to rip it apart too... Ill do the test tomorrow and maybe pull it apart if the numbers look fubared...

Yeah, especially since its the two rear cylinders, 4 and 8.

that would be as easy as removing the uppre intake and just poppin those covers off, right?
thanks!

or just tighten your valve covers down a little bit more they might have come loose, mine use to.

is there any way to test and see if that could be the issue afterwards? Ill go and tighten them down however!!
I was haveing a major detonation issue with my timing @ 12.5 and now that its at 8* its no longer doing that horrible noise! [Smile]
