mechanical oil vs eltric oil

mechanical gauge uses a line that brings oil from ur block all the way to ur gauge, the gauge reads the pressure and then moves the needle accordingly

electric- uses a sending unit that connectos to block (like a stock 5.0), then sends a electronic signal to the gauge, so no messy oil lines running into ur cab

get electric gauges

isnt mechanical more acurate though and there not messy if you dont screw up my first time i didnt have a problem when i did the install

david- A mechanical gauge will be far more expensive for every part you buy. Plain and simple.

Some things, such as a fuel pressure gauge are not allowed inside the vehicle unless you are using an isolator. These are nhra rules, as well as basically saftey.

Some believe that an electric pressure gauge is not as accurate as a mechanical. This can be true. I believe that nothing is going to give you a quick, more accurate reading that something that is ACTUALLY happening.

The install of both types are relitively simple...and can be done in a short time.

Personally I'd reccomend electric for you, as they are VERY close to being completely accurate. It's what I have, and will continue to purchase.

i really believe that autometer makes a solid product. Tested and proven over the years in many different applications.

I personally am about to install Autometer phantom gauges in the hobra...5 of them to be exact.....Air/fuel, boost, nitrous, fuel pressure, and oil pressure.

All will be electrical.

Another somewhat quality gauge is VDO. They make decent products....but autometer is kinda like flowmasters.....there is a reason everyone has them....a tried, and true product.

Autometer also has a whole new line up....C2, cobalt (kinda a blue glow with a white face), lunar ilumination (green ilumination similar to the 03 cobra gauges), as well as many others....phantom (white faced/black bezzle), pro comp (black face/ black bezzle), ultralite (silver face/silver bezzle.

Go with autometer...you wont regret it.

if you are going to race the car, NHRA doesn't like it when you bring flammable materials into the cockpit like oil or gas, you'll need electric gauges anyway.
autometer have always worked well for me.

soo what makes these more accurate than the stock gauges if it uses the stock sending units? or are the units replaced....i dont know much about gauges

Get Autometer. Thats what I run, and ive never had any problems.
