Has anyone installed any of these on their ride. I saw the manual version at a Goodguys show a few years ago and they look very well built.

I like the idea of an electric cut out, I've always wanted to do it on my 2.3 Turbo...
The only thing is the butterfly/blade looks to be smaller diameter than the actual pipe...Lke say I wanted a 3" cutout, the blade looks more like 2.5"....Doesnt it?

even though the cutout is only 2.5", the exhaust gas can still go trough ur regular exhaust system, the extra back pressure can just go through the cutout

I run a dual 3" cut out on my Camaro http://www.geocities.com/sqwznss/y_pipe.html Here is a dyno sheet with cut outs open vrs closed. http://www.geocities.com/sqwznss/Pictures/Car_Pics/Dyno_7-17_100dpi.jpg As you can see with them open I picked up HP/TQ acrross the board. This was with basic bolt ons. I did not make a dyno pull on the bottle as it was not hooked up all the way. But judging by the SOTP difference, I am sure I am picking up at least 10rwhp/tq over them being closed on the bottle. Also since I just slid a pretty big reverse split cam in, there is also a noticable difference open vrs closed.
The nicest thing though is the car is as loud as stock with them being closed due to the y-pipe set up:
LT headers
Dual cut outs
Cats
3" - 2.5" reducers
Flowmaster dual 2.5" to 3 inch y-collector
Over the axle to a hooker Aeromax muffler.
Here is a sound clip with the new cam at idle, you'll here when the cut out gets opened.. http://www.geocities.com/sqwznss/Thunder236.wav

My point being on a 3" cutout, its nice to have the luxury of hitting a switch to open your cutouts, but on a regular cutouts its only 3 wing-nuts and you get a "TRUE" 3 inches diameter!...Every little thing counts, right?..

summit racing sells that dual pipe (bolt on to cover or unbolt for open exhaust) cheap, but without that electric device

i had the regular cut-outs on my first 50 and i wish i had an electric switch for em! it was a bitch getting under my lowered car to take the wingnuts off. and if i had just been drivin gand the exhaust pipes were hot....ouch is all i'm gonna say! my vote is to go with the electric ones.

looks like a bad idea

I used to have a single 3" I got sick of having to have a rag to undo the nuts when hot. Plus, having the electric set up is awesome when someone pulls up next to you throwing revs at you. Just open it and let the Cam do the talking. Cruise around quite as can be, but an extra 10rwhp when you want it.
Tubod427, why would you say it is a bad idea?
