i just installed a e303 cam and was wondering what could cause my idle on the car to go up and down and up and down at idle only when i first start my car then i give it a little gas to stop it from cutting off and it will stop after i give it gas like three times, then it will sit and idle perfect, anyone ever had this problem when thay install a e303 cam,i have no problems with the cam so far its just not loppy enough for me,anybody know what adjustment i need to make ,i already had to turn my idle screw up a little bit cause when i finished the cam and started it up it would not stay idleing,it would just go up and down then cut off,now it idles i just need a little help on what else to do?

Ahhh the famous surge of the fox.....sounds like your idle air control valve(IAC) is sticking or messed up

there is a plate Ford makes that goes between the IAC and the throttle body with air bleed adjusters that realy helps out. I am not sure the part number but it is a ford campaing

That plate did wonders for my idle and I have an E303 in my ride.

you think ajusting the t/p/s would help?

you know, I remember my dad's old maverick (302) did that at start up, but when it warmed up it was fine.
try what these fine gentlemen have suggested, as many of them have experienced this themselves!

No adjusting the TPS won't help. GET THE FRIKEN PLATE I hope that simplifies it for you and then be done with it. I also have a E303 with 1.7's so I have done this

try drilling a small hole in the throttle nody blade it will help your idle out a bit.

I set the bottom screw about half way out before I installed it and fine tuned the adjustment with the top screw. You are going to have to play with it to get to a sweet spot.
