its a saleen intake for a foxbody 5.0, im wondering how i can tell if it is off an original saleen or if it was something saleen sold individually
it was made before vortech got envolved, it says vortech no where on the intake
it also has the weird buttons on it that look like bosses for something on the driver side of the upper intake
and if anyone is interested its for sale [Big Grin]

I believe Saleen only made one kind of 302 intake. The lower is the real restriction since its just a Ford truck 302 lower intake.

the lower is also the same as a holley lower, and its not that big of a restriction, the ports are already the size of footballs

i have heard that the saleen intake that came on the cars had a ported upper, and the ones sold individually were not ported, this is my real question i guess, true y/n

Yes, its based on the Holley SYSTAMAX 1 lower which is pretty much uses the Ford 302 EFI truck lower intake as well.

Saleen's "other" intake was ported, cut and rewelded back together Cobra upper intake mated to a Lightning 351W lower intake.

Those are so that you can have injectors installed there. If you look in the summit magazine in the mustang section and look at the superchargers they have for sale in there look at the picture of the motor and you can see it for your self.

My buddy Andy had that manifold on his coupe.

ur taking about andy's coupe right, same intake, as in i pulled it off andy's car and traded my friend for the intake i had, since my itake is a little better and 200% easier to put on, and the intake in summit is a saleen/vortech intake, those arent worth shit, this intake i think is worth some dough, i saw one go for an insane amount on corral, just wanted to make sure it was the same type

do u know if andy got the intake from a car or bought it from saleen, i would call andy by my friend that bought the car is at work all the time and i never can get a hold of him

That intake is the same as the Vortech intake. In fact it was developed by Vortech in conjuntion with Saleen Performance and was first introduced on the '90 model Saleen SCs before being sold in the aftermarket and marketed by both Saleen and Vortech. It sounds like you may have a later version of the intake that was sold aftermarket by Saleen as none of the intakes that were original equipment on the Saleen SC models had the extra fuel injector bosses cast onto the side.
