Hey All,

My recent conversion on my 84' rag top has gone pretty well.
The motor runs great with all of my modifications intact. My problem lies here;

To meet California smog rules I have had to put the most of the stock goodies in the engine bay (Air cleaner, distributor, most anything without CARB #'s) back on the car.
That is fine, the car even passed the sniff test with my E303 cam. whew!!

The biggest source of my problem is the Ref's scanner won't talk to my EEC computer. I suppose my integration into my harness was not quite exact.
My check engine light is on all the time also.

Does anyone know of a web sight/posting which may describe the conversion I have done with better success? Any help would be appreciated. [worship]

thanks!

What was the name of that Tech in Sacramento?
I've got to get back in touch.

Have you tried pulling the codes? I recomend following this webpage to pull codes from the EEC-IV:

I think the name of the guy you are looking for in Sac is JonM.

From what I hear, getting the check engine light to work is the most common reason people fail at the smog referee. Might want to try asking on the foureyedpride.com message board, lots of people have done the EFI swap there. I'd like to hear more about your experience with the smog referee too, I might do the switch to EFI myself.

I haven't pulled codes cause I switched gears and started work on the paint and new top.

Pulling codes is critical to knowing why the check engine light is on. Post what codes you get and I'll give you probable causes for them [patriot]

Yup, pulling the MAF connector (The EEC's main sensor) is probably the fastest and easiest way to show the check engine light turns on.
