I too am interested in doing an AODE to T5 swap. Approx how much did all the parts cost and were did you find the pedal assembly etc.
91 5.0,
I live in the 94531 too. How much would you charge me for labor. I got an appt. to have my AODE rebuilt w/3000 stall convertor on 9/23.

I also would like to do a swap. My auto just went out for the second time in 2 years. Are you for real about doing it for 275. If so let me know. I leave in the bay area. Where do you live?
Posted by twstd50 (Member # 1981) on

So I'm guessing the pedal assembly is the hardest thing to find. Is there anywhere besides the wrecking yard to get them.
Posted by JohnB (Member # 969) on
:
Yes, the pedal assy is about the toughest thing to find. Save yourself the time and hassle of searching for parts and buy a complete kit from someone or a company.
And yes, I'm real about doing it for $275. I've done a few swaps for my own cars, not to mention cars here on the board.
Edit: I'm in Fairfield.

Yeah, youre from Brentwood right? 275 is about what I would charge too. It takes 1-2 days to do. I got my pedal assembly off of ebay. Cost about 70-80 bucks. What year is your car, ive only done this on fox bodies.

I'm from Antioch... I have a green 94 convert.
I have an appt. at Walnut Creek Trans tomorrow to have my tranny rebuilt for more performance plus a 3000 Emerald converter.
Thanks though.

john b you ever done a auto to 5sp swap on a 4.6?is that price just on fox bodies or modulars as well?
Posted by JohnB (Member # 969) on
:
Yes, I have done a 4.6 swap. Same price.

John B.
If you have done tranny swaps on 4.6s how do you fix the "check engine light" problem?
Posted by JohnB (Member # 969) on
:
A change in the EEC must be made to correct this problem. The "check engine" light illuminates because the Computer is looking for a reading/shift point from the tranny.
When I do this swap, I advise the owner to get it taken care of via a re-program, Tuner, or when it's dyno'd the next time.

:
4.6 you need to either switch to a 5sp computer and go to dealer to have them reprogram your pats system,or have fordchip send you a chip.John b i'll get back to you i might need a while to get all my parts located
