Hi, I am looking at buying a supercharger 99 mustang GT for a fun daily driver. The car is in Texas and I am unsure about smog issues. The car has a fully built 4.6 with a 3-core pro charger, full tube headers, x-pipe, frpp heads, and some kind of custom blower cams. Anyways I am curious if this setup is smogable, the owner says ot should pass, i just need to put on some cats. Does it sound like this car will pass? Also dos it sound like a good buy, $16,500, the cars got all that engine work, and more plus suspension, gears, cobra r wheels, with nitto drag radials, subframe conectors, ect.ect.....
Thanks

We were fine until you listed blower cams. Do they do the "dyno smog" in your county? It's hard to tell, but if I had to guess, I'd say it won't pass.

do you think it wont pass because of the cams? I'll try and find the specs, and I dont think they do dyno smoging whare I am......yet

oh ya, if it is the cams, how hard is it to change them on the 4.6 (never worked on one) maybe I could put stock ones in there just for smog.

Well it might pass the sniffer test but the long tubes(ive never seen a set of long tubes with a CARB #), the lack of cats(i know you said you were gonna put those on) and I'm not sure if that model of procharger has a CARB #. These three would fail you for the visual inspection. Obviously the blower cams arent legal but its not like the smog tech is gonna open up the motor and check. Sounds like a cool car but it may cause some headaches when you try to smog it.

the supercharger has a carb number. I think I know a few people that can smog it for me, so I think I'll be OK. However I was thinking of getting a stock exhaust system with cats to pass smog, but we'll see.

how many miles ?

My kid's 96 passed with no problems. However he only has the Vortech S-1, Borla X-pipe, and Flowmaster 40-series. I'm fairly sure most full-length headers are not legal in California. (At least that was my argument when my kid asked for them.) [Razz]

the car has like 60,000, but the new motor only has 6,500 miles
