well as most of you guys now i have a air to air intercooler on my car
currently the car makes 13psi
I was thinking of takeing the cooler off to make more boost and maybe get better HP numbers

what you think, leave it or take it off
I was pondering the thought couse I now some people have made more power with it off and some have lost power

in case you wondering my car only made 355rwhp but their was some problem with my electrical at the time

It should all be resolved bye the time I take it back to the dynoe

I say leave the cooler and get a tune. The colder intake charge will allow more timing resulting in more hp. [patriot]

not if the intercooler is a restriction in the air path. is this the recommended IC for the supercharger, or did you fab one up??

Yeah, but all intercoolers/aftercoolers are some sort of restriction.

What kind of gas are you using?

If you are running 91 octane then 13lbs of boost with no charge cooling is going to result in detonation. Then boom!

If you really want to increase power, it is time to get in to the motor. Ported heads/intake/cams. Of course if you want it to live with 400 or so rwhp, pistons/rods/steel crank.

keep the cooler, up the boost, or get a N-tercooler kit from NX! [Big Grin]

If it was me at 13 PSI already and pump gas I'd be looking to leave the I/C on there. You can hose the I/C at the track [Razz]

Take the cooler off and sell it to me! Or do what everyone else is saying and get it tuned... [Roll Eyes]

So you think tuning is a bad idea? [Roll Eyes] [Roll Eyes]

I have tuned it

If I remove the cooler to run more boost im runing 100+ octane to help with detonation

I have ran 16 psi on 91 octane with no problems in the past of course what killed the motor was the fuel system that sucks
but i have gone back to a return style fuel system

hmmm i might take it off and try it just to see how much the cooler is restricting the boost

Why would you take of a performance part that helps cool down the hot air generated by the charger, creating more power for you? A intercooler may resrtict 2-3 lbs of boost, but at the same time, it reduces inlet temps dramatically, if its a track car, go ahead with the 100 octane, but in a street car, keep it, up the boost, or buy a Ntercooler kit for the intercoler, or if you really want more power than go into the engine! If i remember reading right, 9lbs of intercooled boost created ruffly the same amount of power as 12-13 lbs of non intercooled boost! Remember heat is a bad thing! BOOM!

So lemme see if I got this right. The 2 choices are.....

A. 13 lbs of intercooled boost with 100 octane fuel and running the maximum amount of allowable timing.

B. 15 lbs of non intercooled boost with 100 octane and running the maximum amount of allowable timing.

The choice should be very clear. With "A" setup on pump gas you will make more power than "B", even with 2 lbs less boost due to the cooler intake temperatures and more timing. The 100 octane will allow for more timing in either case but will provide greater gain in the intercooled setup.

I know what I would do.

No I think that intercooler would look really good behind MY front bumper.

you know, one of the stang magazines had a feature where they decreased the psi on a turbo, but increased the -flow- rate and gained mad HP gains... Ill look for what month for ya, neato stuff! [Big Grin] [patriot]
