hey guys, i'm building a 342 and just wondering if anyone has a suggestion on what kit to go with. i'm trying not too much unless i go 4340 forged on everything. would a nodular iron crank, i beam forged rods and forged pistons hold up to produced over 400 horsed naturally aspirated at about 11to1 compression? should i go, dss, keith craft, livernois, or chp? anything?

Why are you not going to bore it .030 over to a 347ci?

i'm using a regular 302 block from summit. i'm not boring it cause it'll cause me 400 dollars extra. i'm trying to save. i'm notching the block myself. by doing all this and not buying a built shortblock, i'm saving about 600 dollars. i've been a journeyman mechanic for chryler for about 3years now i can due all the building myself, nothching the block and all. i will send it in to get zero decked for about 150 though just to be perfect on the quench.

if I were using a new block I wouldn't bore it either. Still though I hear "seasoned" aka "well loved" used 302 blocks make more power than new blocks. Something about the bores being settled so that when the bore is torque-plate honed/bored the hone stays 'true' longer making more power.

I think that's also known as core-shift.

might as well and go forged crank too just in case u want more power and just go and find a 302 block and clean it up
