Yesterday I was out and about and took my fuel relay from under my seat out while parked in a shopping center. When I left the shopping center I forgot to put the relay back in. The car started and ran but really shitty. I thought the car wouldn't even start without it??? I didn't drive anywhere because when it was idleing bad I remember to put the relay back in. Why did it start and do you think it could have done any damage?

there may have been a little bit of fuel and pressure in the rails still. How long did it run?

Sometimes it will still start, just like Dustin said there is still some fuel and some pressure in the lines so there might be enough in there to start. Try driving it around. It will run for only a second or two.

P.S. If your going to be doing this quite often (removing the relay) I suggest you wiring in a switch. Eventually those wires come loose and will dislodge themselves from the relay.
