my friend is looking into the vortech or the novi 2k on his 98 snake. his motor is basically stock, except for a little polishing on his intake runners and some flowmaster dumps.

what is the diff b/t the v1 and the v2? and the vortech comes with the trex in line, correct? is that worth keeping or should he sell and get a walbro in tank or something like that? how about that FMU? he already has his eye on some 36#s, is that sufficient?

he's planning to have it tuned at apex to make sure everything is running in synch, but his car has 56k on it and i heard those rods/pistons in there are known to be weak. will they hold to 7-10psi? i know i have more questions, but i'm having writers block. thanks for any info... [patriot]

V1 is noisy, V2 is quiet. I think the V2 may be a tad more efficient, but not sure, and i doubt its by much. It comes with a t-rex inline, and depending on how much boost he wants to run, he can use the stock intank, or get a 255. 36's probably wont support more than 10lbs of boost, nor will the stock intank pump. If he runs 8-10psi it should be fine for Id say 25-40k miles, with a good tune, and depending on how he drives. Let me know if you need to know more.

1) As far as injectors go, don't bother with 36s. Get 42s. The price differance is very small.

2) Getting a custom tune is the best way to go.

3) Detonation kills! Greed causes detonation. Keep the boost to a reasonable level and only use good gas.

4) Be smart. Even with a great tune, you need to think before stomping on the gas. Don't do something like try to accelerate up a steep grade in 100 deg weather with 4 people and a trunk load of stuff.

Lots of people will argue that they now a guy that runs 16lbs of boost on his stock block and it has 80k miles on it with out a problem. My answer to that is I know more people, that if they were lucky, just ended up getting a short block rebuilt. The unlucky ones destroy the block, crank and heads.
