who would win out of a 2002GT and a 1998 Cobra??
2002GT has pro-chamber off road pipe,2 chamber flow masters, bbk cold air(fenderwell) ,and 75mm bbk throttle body.the cobra has is stock except for exhaust.

Id still say the 98, those are pretty quick.

98 Cobra would win.

My money's on the Cobra. That GT has got to be a slug off the line with those mods. Sounds like he's done everything he can to kill low end torque so he's not going to get the jump on him out of the hole. And once the Cobra gets the rev's up it's over.

But then again I've lost to cars with less power before since I can't drive for $h!t.

I gotta go with the GT. I know what there capable of [Wink]

i'd say the gt but it would be very very close depending on driver...check out the article in 5.0 mustang mag they have a 99 cobra / 01 bullitt / 03 mach 1 comparison [patriot]

Posted by 4.6GT (Member # 2643) on :

oh yea i seen the article the 99 cobra is the slowest out of the three.the bullit only has 5 more horses that the gt.

Posted by 4.6GT (Member # 2643) on :

i just wanted to see what you guys would say.ive raced like 5 98 cobras and ive beaten all them of the line.only like 2 of them we were even.

Posted by st5150 (Member # 51) on :

I think the GT from a stop and the Cobra from a roll, either way the winner will come down to the driver.

Posted by Cobra5.0Jeep (Member # 1482) on :

99 Cobras are the slowest cobras.

Posted by White95GT (Member # 1915) on :

Race that cobra on the freeway and u will definately lose

Posted by Cobra5.0Jeep (Member # 1482) on :

What about 94's and 95's?

Posted by Cobra5.0Jeep (Member # 1482) on :

i don't know i was just saying that because of his article lol

Posted by Cobra5.0Jeep (Member # 1482) on :

I'd rather have a 94 Cobra than a 99 though.

actualy i raced a 98 cobra last night on the freeway we both put it in third and just hit hit i took him by like half of a car.after that he didnt want none anymore.you cant under estimate these 99-up gt there pretty quick.

Its when the gt's switch outa 3rd into 4th that the cobras start taking off

Posted by 4.6GT (Member # 2643) on :

well we were racing trough like almost all of 4th to and he didnt pull on me at all.

Posted by White95GT (Member # 1915) on :

Thats interesting...im not calling u a lier at all i just find it strange. I kick the shit out of 99+ gt's and cobras all the time (except 03 cobra's). The only time i have probs with the cobras is when i change gears from 3rd to 4th then they start to pull. When i had my nitrous it wasnt a prob but without some kind of power adder i dont think u can hang after 3rd gear.

Hey 4.6Gt did you go to the grudge match if so what were your times?

Posted by Black94 5.0 (Member # 655) on :

It comes down to the driver, really, but I think that the 98 Cobra should and will probably win...

Posted by 4.6GT (Member # 2643) on :

no i didnt go to the grudge match.i havent ran my car at the track yet.i mean i know the 98 cobras are qiuck they have 305hp stock.but for some reason i keep on beaten them.that cobra i raced on the freeway we started in third when we hit it i pulled about a half a car ahead when we hit forth thats how we stayed the hole way.

Posted by 95still5.0 (Member # 2994) on :

i say the gt will take depending on the driver.

I'd rather have a '99 cobra than a '94. Anything but that 94-98 stuff [Big Grin]

was it you?

When I had similar mods before like 4.6GT and raced a few 98 Cobra's I was able to stay ahead.

If the cobra doesn't win he needs some driving lessons.

As much as I like my 5.0-

Let's see you hit over 106mph at that race weight w/ a 5.0 that has never had the valve covers off or any type of engine work- N/A. Be kinda tough to do. What are the 99 up GT's weighing in- 3450 or so?

driver's race. I have seen IN PERSON both ways.

my brother car traps at 107mph and could fall under this category, but he has an e cam and roller rockers...so you win... [Wink]

I ran 105.3 per Jim's restriction(s) I think...

edit: in July heat too, 1500' D.A., easy 106 in the winter, about 100#'s net of weight reduction, if you include the fullsize spare/jack in that calc, otherwise like 50#'s of weight reduction, car had full belt, with A/C and smog and PS and everything...

Stock HO intake, E7TE's? And you did not weigh in at 3400lbs.....

ok you got me. I pulled 50#'s out of the car and ran the explorer intake. I'd trade the explorer intake for a bypassed PS pump and a race crank pulley any day. [Whoo Whooooo!]

Posted by FasterDamnit (Member # 442) on :

And you pulled that 50lbs out of a Coupe. Waaaay below 3400...

Posted by shade-tree (Member # 298) on :

Am I supposed to throw 250#'s in the trunk? [Big Grin] (actually, if I run PSCA open comp, I have to run 330#'s in the trunk to make weight, lol)

Posted by 90GT (Member # 3) on :

Too bad you didn't continue to run that setup into the winter. 105 in august is moving, I'm sure the weather could have offset the intake.

raced 4 96-98 cobras and 1 2001 cobra at sac. beat them all. even stock I could take the 96-98 cobras. It took 4.10's and underdrives to take the 2001. a cobra with 4.10's is a different story, that should be fast. ray

no fucking way the GT would stand a chance.

i beat a few in my 94 with just exhaust. so the 98 should take you.
but it will come down to the driver

Like I said, anyone who knows how to drive a cobra (dohc) correctly will spank the GT. There are some pretty pathetic drivers out there. To prove it I can tell you a story about a roush stage 3 I raced the other day. I don't know how I could take him by about 2 cars. He couldn't pull on me. Same thing happened when I raced a blue 03 cobra on capitol. He only took me buy 2 cars. My car is slow isn't it? I hate to brag but I gotta let it out sometime.
