What do you guys think of "Power Heads" CNC ported stock E7 heads?..$650, do you think they are worth it or should I save more money for some aluminum Edelbrock, TFS or AFR's?...I'm on an extremely tight budget!!...

"With gains of 38HP and 39 ft lbs at the rear wheels, PowerHeads were an impressive bolt on, to say the least. The combination of small ports to maintain maximum velocity, excellent flow numbers (for the runner size) and an affordable price, make the PowerHeads hard to beat." -- Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords. July 1999 issue.

I wouldn't bother with them myself. I agree that GT-40P's would be the next logical step, damn near any longtube header works with them so I don't see the problem?

buy used edelbrock heads for that price, the edelbrock heads will flow better and are aluminum so they save weight, plus the edelbrocks can always be ported
this goes for any aluminum heads, i just dont think maxing out a set of stock heads is worth it unless keeping stock stuff is ur thing

At one time I had those heads.
Those & 1.7 rockers gave me 4mph in the 1/4. But I will NEVER buy from those guys again!
After the swap the motor used 1qt of oil every 1k miles. Shitty valvetrain components, had to do 8+ hrs of cleanup on the heads BEFORE they could be bolted on, had a hell of a time getting my core-charge back, etc, etc.

IMO if you were to buy the heads, get them bare & have a quality machine shop inspect & assemble a quality valvetrain. Don't even let 'powerheads' do a valvejob....leave it to a local machine shop.

I dont have money to buy new long tube headers....I would've thought that CNC ported E7's would out flow the GT40P's too...

I'm basically looking for the cheapest way to gain horse power and I've got everything else other than heads and cam...

I see used TFS or Edelbrock heads in the $600-$700 range all the time. AFR used heads seem to be in the ~$900 range or so.

GT-40 iron heads (I have a spare set but they're not for sale) will work fine with stock headers. They go for $400 usually but *may* need a valvejob and then you're at the price of a used aluminum head.
