Disconnecting tailpipes from mufflers that have been clamped?

hi guys, any ideas as to how I can disconnect my mufflers from my tailpipes that have been clamped on? The clamping created a slight crimp and this bad boy won't budge. I know muffler shops just heat that section and wiggle it out. Any ideas as to how I can do it in my garage? Thanks

By the way, the cat-back kit is the Dynomax Super turbo kit. Nothing has been welded.

Sorry, good luck!....Those clamps seal the pipes pretty good....Personally I would try hammering some flat blade screw drivers inbetween the pipes, but I dont think its worth the hassle...I would just take it to a muffler shop and get it done right....

If the pipes on the outside are the pipes being discarded- just use a Dremel or die grinder to cut longitudinal slits in the pipe at the overlap the length of the overlap and pry open w/ a big screwdriver.

Jim, nothing is getting thrown away. I am just transfering the kit to my 93coupe. Hence why I need to be careful and not damage anything.

Good luck. Getting them off after they have been crimped and having useable pieces after will be very difficult.

The Eastwood company sells a tool to do just what you want. It's about 35 bucks. Check it out at www.eastwoodcompany.com It's called the e-z pull pipe clamp.
