I am installing new pads on a 98 rear disk set up and can not get the piston to collaps. What do I need to do??

You can't get it to squeeze? Sounds like you might need to bleed the line, there might be air in there.

The piston won't return into the caliper. They are disk w/E-brakes so I think you need to screw it in or something! [Confused]

Use a c-clamp and push it back, its hard to explain....

Nope needed to buy a socket and swrew it back into its place. The E-brake screws the piston out so it is always by the disk and you need to unscrew it. Bought the tool and job is done. But thank you for your willingness to help!

A clamp works if you don't want to buy a tool. [Cool]

Now how does a clamp work when the piston has a screw on the back side that needs to spin to return in to the caliper for new pads. I am unclear on this set up but I have use the clamp move for going on 20yrs and have had great luck. This time it would not work so I went and got the tool ($11 kragen and it is a piece of shit but worked) and they both screwed back in [Frown]

no, you dont use a clamp unless you want to break something. the rear discs need a special tool that rotates the piston into the caliper. some people use pliers but it is a pain.
