ok a buddy is getting a 460 big block for his stang. well its a 460 EFI motor out of a econoline van. he was told that normal 460 big block parts wont bolt up to it?? someone said that its different form the carbed 460, which i guess performance companies only mak eparts for? will a carb. intake and 460 headers bolt up? is anything different between the EFI and CARBED?? help before hes stuck with a motor he cant mod. will the carbed 460 heads bolt on to the EFI block? is the block different at all? or just the EFI stuff?

You'll need to convertert a carbed intake into fuel injectors (added injector bosses and a throttle body).... you'll also need special motor mounts to drop it into a fox body. The transmission will more than likely end up being a C6. I guess the short answer is yes, it can be done [patriot]

he wants to use a efi style block though so what is being said here is that you would still need to use a pre87 engine for this and then pay out the ass if you want to use a direct port style injection system

the question was asking if carbureted heads and intake will work on an EFI block. not if you can run EFI on a carbd engine

yea basically the question was is the actuol block different? will pre 87 heads and carb intake bolt on?

Not a huge expert on the 429/460 series but the Ford racing catalog says their CJ heads are for production and aftermarket 429/460 blocks(no mention of specific years). Not a clear answer but I'm sure a call to a good machine shop would probably clear any questions up quickly.

I suppose, but why not save on the long distance fees and call maybe Morgan's Machine shop out near you there in Concord? I'm sure they could give you a definate answer.
