I have a 88GT with 98 cobra rims, 245/45/17, and lowered an inch and a half or two. I am wondering if 275/40/17 would fit, There is a lot of room between my quad shock and tire but not the fender and tire! Anyone know the differences in backspacing between a cobra r rim and a 98 cobra rim? Anyone know if the 275's will fit?

They should fit without a problem. It doesn't sound like your car is "slammed" on the ground so at worst you may need to take a rubber mallet to the fender lips to roll them a little bit.

this doesnt answer your question, but 275's arent a good idea on 8" wide rim unless they are nittos or some brand that "over measures" their tires. i put 275's on cause i needed some cheap used tires and it was all i could find at the time. the back end feels like i'm constantly driving in rain, while turning and from a stop. it looks cool though [Smile]

Is the backspacing the same on 5 lug 98 cobra's as a 4 lug cobra R?

4-lug 17x8" Cobra r's have a=5.15" backspacing

5-lug 17x8" 98 Cobra wheels have a=5.72" backspacing...

With a 5.72 inch backspacing, will 275-40-17 fit on a 88gt rear.
