I've heard that people have problems with BBK stuff, but this will be the 3rd set of header gaskets I've gone through in the past 6 months. I tighten them every 2 weeks or so. Its clicking like mad. I'm thinking it also might be the flange from the header to the crossover pipe. Any ideas out there as to how to solve this (without spending hundreds of dollars on a Bassani pipe for you smart asses out there )?

I had the same problem. I ditched the pos bbk paper gaskets and got some felpros with the metal inside. Those and a set of some stage 8 locking header bolts did the trick.

I went through one set of Felpros already, plus the Felpros that came with my headgasket kit when I did the heads. I guess I should invest in some stronger header bolts then...

i have the bbk's also and i had that problem as well, dont know if you ever heard of this or not but what i did was took some RTV and made a gasket out of it, i just put some one the header and the block and tightened everything down, let it run for a while and then tightened it down again. I did that almost 2 years ago, and i havent had a problem since, just an idea for you

This should work the first and last time for you. After you install a new gasket and headers drive the car around for approx 30 minutes to an hour, making sure they are good and hot. As soon as you get home put on some of those heat resistant gloves and tighten the hell out of them again. Try to have someone on one side while you work on the other. Tighten them AGAIN the next day when the car is just as warm. Check them AGAIN after a week. This should work. Just be persistant.

I have bbk longtubes and i had that problem at first but then i bought some ARP 1" long bolts and put some threadlock on them and they never move. If your using 3/4" bolts then they are only in the block like 1/4" and they tend to loosen real easy.

It could still be the header flange too. If you want to find out where your exhast leak is, try what I did. I took about a 3 foot long tube from my vacuum cleaner and put it up to my ear and stuck it down in the engine. I heard the ticking loudest at the driver's side header flange and low and behold, when I stuck my hand down there, I could feel the exhast puffing out.
