my friend is looking at the steeda supercharger package, the one that has the steeda flash chip, injectors, vortech sq charger and so on, is it worth the price or just buy everything and have byron tune it
the car is a 97 gt auto
he will be running about 8-10 psi and he has minor bolts on like exhaust and TB
if anyone has this kit what do u think about the power and driveability of it

What is the price?
Posted by 66 AC COBRA (Member # 904) on
:
4400
comes with
vortech sq
steeda flash chip
fuel pump(s)
injectors
80mm maf
this kit on a stock 00gt makes a little more than 400rwhp on pump gas
so my friend should be looking at about 350rwhp since he has exhaust and TB, but he still has the old noflow heads

Tell him not to buy it. Go find an advertised price that is lower then the price Summit has for the Vortec. Then call Summit and they will match or beat it also find a Summit discount code. You will get a Vortec at a very good price! Then have Byron do the tune on it. Or check the corral and stangnet and buy a used Vortec either way you can't go wrong and will get a good deal.

Is this Donnies car?? I owuld tell him to get that shit because if he tries to buy everything seperately, he is definitely gonna spend more than 4400 bucks. Shit, his supercharger alone is gonna cost him that if not a shit load more because of all the fuel and electrical upgrades. C'mon Eric you know that
Or do what Bunchmyfunky said... Either way, you will be saving money by not purchasing an SQ, then a fuel system to support it, then a chip, then a maf and matching injectors.

The Vortec kit that you get from Summit comes with everything you need and it's in the 3k range. I think White02GT used the summit 10% discount and an advertised price and ended up getting it for under 3k from summit.

If I was buying a blower kit, I would go with the steeda kit. You are getting a reflashed Computer with a Ford-Costhworh Calibaration that is superior to any chip and you also get the pump and injectors engineered as a complete kit.

yeah nick this is donnies piece, he has to keep it now because he owes more on it that he could sell it for, so no 5.0 for him, this is a break down of the cost from steeda for what u get
vortech charger 3150
injectors 250
maf 250
reflash 350
duel fuel pumps 400
i got the reflash price from total- other part totals
my friend could save 250 because he wouldnt need the duel pumps because he doesnt have a returnless fuel system, atleast i dont think he does, can anyone back that up

go the steeda route don't go the cheap way.The steeda setup is the best out there right now ,it enables you to take your car to the ford dealer with the blower and it won't void warranty. My friend bought the regular vortech kit for a 00gt and the pump they sent him was horrible i think it was the walbro 255 he experienced detonation and even byron told him his pump was crap.He ordered the steeda dual pump setup and all problems went away

Hmmm....I'd have to disagree with that. Not only can we far exceed a mail order chip's hp 99% of the time, a reflashed computer by Steeda will most likely be non-chippable, just like the ones from Saleen. Thus, you can't have a local tuner chip it. Sure you could buy a new computer, but the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) would have to be recoded by the dealer. Big pain.
I'd also like to see 400rwhp dyno numbers with that out-of-the-box kit. The only way to get those numbers is with an Aftercooler and 11-12psi boost. Steeda wouldn't be that aggressive with a mail-order kit. It would be too risky.

the 400rwhp is on a 00-03 gt, there Q400, look at the MM&FF febuary issue, they claim 400+rwhp on the car with only the above kit i said and 2.5" catback exhaust, that is what steeda nad MM&FF reports, i no magazines are biassed sometimes but that is what they say

I would save a lot and piece it together, but that's just me.
