Check this out. DSS and CHP BOTH have sick ass short blocks that will get you a nice boost in the performance area. But they ALSO have stroker kits at HALF the price of a shortblock. So you wanna keep your block? Get a stroker kit and make your shit GO; or get a new shortblock... Say a fully built 331 or 347 bottom end for 3g's, and save a little more for the top and you are SET BRO. Why rebuild a 302 to a 302 when your options ARE UNLIMITED DUDE!

If you're not planning any big performance upgrades (power adders or a heads/intake/cam package) then leave perfection alone. I was in your shoes at the 160K mile mark. Over 70K miles later, I believe I made the right choice. $3,000 will buy you a lot of oil to feed that 160K mile 302 [Wink]

If you're really set on a rebuild, see if you can hunt down an explorer 5.O crate motor. Heck, see if you can hunt down two, one for you, one for me. Ford knows how to build these motors right. Your 160K mile motor proves this. Why not pick up another Ford built 302 and enjoy another 160K miles?
