IM GETTING READY TO PUT AN NX WET KIT ON MY 02 GT THIS WEEKEND. I WAS TOLD THAT NITROUS SHOULDNT BE RUN WITH THE PLATINUM PLUGS THAT COME OE ON THE CAR. SO I OUT SOME COPPER CORED AND GAPPED IT AT .035 INSTEAD OF 0.55 THAT IT CALLS FOR. WELL NOW THE PERFORMANCE WAS DRAMATICALLY AFFECTED. SO MY QUESTION IS DO I HAVE TO RUN COPPER CORES OR CAN I RUN THE PLATINUMS THAT WERE IN THE CAR ORIGANALLY? IM LOOKING FOR LONGEVITY OF THE MOTOR. I GAPPED THE PLUGS DIFFERENTLY CAUSE SOMEONE THAT HAS THE SAME SETUP GAPPED THEM THAT WAY AND SAID I SHOULD DO THE SAME. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS [patriot]

hey i don't think copper cored plugs would make your car run less than it did before check for other things all your wires back on, you got the right firing order, how much you gapped the plugs.

I GAPPED THE PLUGS AT .035 INSTEAD OF THE SUGGESTED .055. I DID THIS BECAUSE A GUY WITH THAT SETUP HAS RUN 100 BOTTLES SAFELY SO FAR.

I'm running 2 step colder plugs and there gapped the same as yours. I noticed no perfomance loss.

HAVE YOU HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH DETONATION ON THE BOTTLE?? ARE YOUR PLUGS PLATINUM OR COPPER? [patriot]

No detonation and copper.

Do not run platinum plugs with nitrous. They wont last. Copper core plugs will not affect performance. If anything, its the gap. Go ahead and put htem back to .055, or in the middle at .045. The reason for closing the gap, is so that the nitrous doesnt blow out the flame. With a small 150 shot, you wont be running enough cylinder pressure to have to worry about it. You usually have to start closing the gap when you run numbers around 300hp+

SO THEN YOU THINK ITS THE GAP NOT THE CRAPPY AUTO LITE COPPER CORES THEMSELVES? [Confused]

Yes, the only thing a plug does is spark. The platinum plugs use a very thin and small electode, with a platinum tip. This will get burned up by the nitrous, and it doesnt produce a very big spark. The copper core plugs will give you a much bigger spark, and wont corrode like the platinum with nitrous use. Try setting the gap to .045, and see how it runs. Thats what I run in my 12:1 350, spraying 300hp of nitrous, with no problems. .035 is just way too small. I would even try the .055 you were using, and see if you run into any problems with the nitrous. I doubt you will.
