took the cobra in today because they had to look at the rearend. i had been complaing that my transmission didnt feel right for months and today they looked at the car and said the rear end, tranny, and clutch is all going out.. i guess now there saying since all 3 are going out at the same time that my extended warranty wont cover it.. i dont know how to hanndle this anyone have any ideas?? at first i thought the rear was just the brakes so i had them check it on my last service but thats when they said nothin was wrong, but to bring it back cause it might be a bearin in the rear.. is there anywayy all 3 can be related to one thing??

Call ford corp office and ask about your warranty. Youd be surprised at the crap dealerships pull. It should be covered. I just had a rear end replaced on my mom's 95 4runner. She paid like $100 since she had the extended warranty. The only thing you should have to pay for is the clutch, any fluids and your deductable. If you want to fight them on it go to the better business bureau office in oakland. hope this helps!

Yeah that sounds like bullshit get a second opinion on that the dealer will tell you there is something wrong and nothing is!! Don't believe it until you have a second opinion!!

The Better Bureau will do just about nothing.. You want to to the Bureau of Automotive Repair. They are the ones who dish out the fines to the Auto shops when they screw up..
What was the reason did they give for not covering the issues?

Did you bring it in for a vibration? I think there is a service message to replace the trans, rear end and driveshaft to cure a vibration concern. I did one swap on a 99 a few years ago.

blueoval, do you have any other details on that?. that was the exact problem i had. the tranny i have been complaining about for months too them for being sloppy with a vibration, and the otherday i started hearing a bearing loose in the rearend. so when i had it in just this last week they said it was clutch, tranny, and rearend do to me driving the car too hard. when honestly i might drive it fast occasionally but not hard very often, or atleast not hard enough to screw it up. they said since all 3 are going out at the exact same time fors wont cover under warranty due to it showing i beat the car up

If the car shows signs of abuse (like bald back tires or lack of maintenance) the dealer can say that the car is being abused or is being used as a race car based on what they see. Being a 99, you must be close, if not over, the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty period, but if you are still under warranty, they should still try to cover the problem.
I looked on the Ford tech website, and couldn't find the message relating to the vibration concern, so the tech must have to call in to the hotline to have the engineers send out a new drivetrain.
Your clutch will not be replaced for the vibration concern, only the trans, driveshaft and rear end center section will be replaced (and that is only if the hotline says that those parts are causing the problem).
If you are out of the warranty period, I have the center section from the Cobra that I did the swap on for sale for $300 - it has about 10,000 miles on it. I already sold the T45 about a year ago.
