Is that parts and labor, or just the labor?

The parts themselves come to around $200, install a further $200 to $250 on top.

thats more than i thought it would cost, ohh well. is it work spending $400 for gears to be installed?

I had mine done at Rear-End specialties. That is pretty much all they do, so no worries on a botched job. Think they charged me 150 bucks like 2-3 years ago.
It is a great modification, because it is really seat of the pants HP.

so i will be able to see a big difference in speed?
Posted by SnakePit (Member # 2541) on
:
Depends on what you mean by "speed". You will be pulling harder cause the gear ratio has been bumped on the amount of rotations it makes, so it will feel like you added 50 lbs of torque to your launches. Obviously you aren't making HP... but it feels like it.

i would go buy the summit rebuild kit or something comparible (80 bucks)....ratech maybe and find a good shop who will do labor only work....should cost about 150 to 200 at the most for labor....those people will rape you on parts so be careful.....any shop that does rear end work only should do fine...i dont know any in the nor cal area...hoopers rear end and differential where i live in l.a. is the fucking place to go around here......anyone who offers a warrenty on their labor is good too.....

so instead of getting actual 3.73 gears. i should buy a rebuild kit(which costs about $80). then have it installed for $200-$250 right, is this what u r saying. or i have to buy 3.73 gears, the rebuild kit, and pay for labor?

Buy the gears online, unless the shop sells them at a good price... You will need new pinion and carrier bearings...
Expect to pay about 250 for labor (which should included the new bearings, and fluid)
I paid $400 total when I installed 4.30s on my Cobra... That included "Strange" 4.30s, new pinion and carrier bearings, and fluid... The shop provided all of the parts...

i called the guy @ the san leandro shop. he said he would do the install for $250. he said that i would not need the rebuild kit, cuz my car only has 32k miles on it. is this true for a 2000 GT guys?

Mine ran me $560 with ring&pinion, +rebuild kit and labor. You don't need the rebuild kit, I have 120k miles on my car.
labor alone was $250

I bought my gears online from gefracing.com for $150. I took it to get installed at Rearend Specialties and they did it for $275. Runs perfect... No extra noises or anything. Highly recommended shop.
