I have a 3.5 Amp draw in my electrical system somewhere, I checked all the fuses and found nothing, anyone ever had this problem, or can anyone offer another form of testing??? Please help I'm having to unhook my Battery everytime I stop my car. Thanks, Dom

to isolate the circuit, hook up your ammeter and start pulling fuses until the reading drops. once the circuit is isolated, the cause may become evident with some minor searching.

good luck!

Well??? It's 1:40 AM and I just came in from getting my pile off of a Tow truck, I was driving home from my girlfriends house when I smelled the burning electrical smell, then saw a fire through my cowl hood, my alternator caught on fire, so hopefully this would have been my problem, one hell of a way to find it, but who knows. It's time to sell it......anyone want it?

IT's an 89 GT, 5spd, I just installed a new motor with an E Cam from Central Coast Mustangs, New drive shaft, 4.10 gears, 17" Wheels, body is straight.
It's a clean car, I'm just over the noise! It has single chambers on it. The only thing that burned was my Alternator and upper radiator hose, it will be fixed in no time, The car is fine I just want something else, I'll put it up for $5,500 when I sell it which will be real soon. When I do sell it I'll put an ad out explaining all the features.

Doh! I wish I would have seen this post sooner! I don't now how I missed it. A few months ago, I had the EXACT same thing happen to my '89 5.O, same current draw, ect. It was the rectifier in the alternator that had gone south. I was able to figure out the problem before anything bad happened though. I did the 3G alternator upgrade listed at www.racesystems.com and couldn't be happier. AutoZone has the best price for a '94 GT alternator.
