so i followed these instructions

and the speedcal didnt work.. instead my milage looks lik "-------" and i get a beautiful cel light, and a car that shuts off while braking going down hill... I double checked the installation and everything was wired as the instructions said... did i get a bad unit?

I guess you will have to switch it back to normal setup to know if there is something wrong with the speedcal. I just put mine in last weekend w/o problems.

I double checked all the wires the second time i jacked it up.. the VSS was connected, and the wires where the way the instructions shows...

Yes. when i double checked the wires i disconnected the battery, it was disconnected for a good 5-10min.

Make sure All your crimped connections are all the way thru the insulation. I had a problem where I was getting no MPH reading and it was a bad crimp.

the crimp they sent was a pos, so i just spliced into the wire, and used electrical tape.
