Did they raise the compression ratio in the 2000 4.6 from the 96 4.6 (2v) enough so that I would not be able to use my 10lb vortech blower on the new engine?

Yes, the 96-96 4.6L SOHC engines have lower compression ratios then the 99+ SOHC engines. The simplest reason is becuase of the PI heads.

as for 10lb's of boost, you might have to lower it down just a little bit, to 8-9, some will say you are completly fine, others will say lower it to 6lb's of boost. I think you will be fine as long as u have the fuel to support them.

Actually the compression is the same because simultaneously they switched to dished pistons (technically 96-98 pistons were also dished but with smaller dish). But if you bolt PI heads on 96-98 block you'll get higher compression (10.5:1 area), perhaps this fact created some confusion.

Didn't they also raise compression in '00 or '01 on the SOHC motors compared to the '99's? If so- anyone know from what to what did they raise it from?

tcccoa.com says that in 2001 with PI Romeo heads they raised CR to 9.4:1.
But MM&FF has different numbers like 9.74:1
