hey ive noticed most if not all ford blocks are two bolts. is there any way to get a four bolt small block? Ive heard you can drill them out and make it a four bolt. how is this done and does it work well?
THANKS

Yea, mildon makes 4bolt conversion caps, but if you are doin this let the machine shop do it, b/c they are also gonna have to align hone the block with the new caps. I would recommend doin this, b/c (i know i will get some s*** for this)it will actually act stronger than a stock 4 bolt block, due to the more material there is on a 2bolt block. I would go with the splayed caps too, its where the outside bolts go in at an angle, stronger than just straight down.

Yes you will get shit for that. Have you ever seen an A4 or R302 block? How can you possibly think that a stock 2bolt block has more material. If anything drilling a 2bolt block for splayed caps will make it WEAKER!

There is more material there in the webs more so than a stock 4bolt block (boss 302 etc.) Yea, a R302 is beefy, but u also lose out on cooling ability, by losing half your water jackets, not too mention u pay over a grand for a block that is not even machined. And by drilling it, u lose a bit of material, but u have more material there than a 4bolt stock block did, b/c it was cast for 4bolts....less material than a 2bolt.

I forgot to mention, nowhere in the quote u used, did i say that a stock 2bolt block was better than a A4 or R302, and i said "stock" i have never seen an A4 or R302 come in a producton vehicle.
