I wanted to know what your setup was?I think its a 306 with afrs?My friend wants to do a 306 with 185's 11.5/1.What kind of compression are you running?

Compression the first time around was 10.0 (340 dyno). Second setup had 10.3. To get a 11.5 Compression ratio you'll need a custom piston. They're about $200+ more if I remember right. They'll need a dome. I don't know if you'll get away with 11.5 on pump gas. It's mostly gonna depend on the cam and how much overlap it has and how much cylinder pressure you have.

I had P/V clearance issues at high RPM (valve float) and the exhaust valve broke and that's what chewed up the motor. Don't worry fellas, I got shit in the works. It won't dissapoint [burnout]

A 306 with those heads and a cam like my 2nd one with 11:1 should make 380 RWHP and be very responsive with torque in the 360's. A 1 3/4 longtube header, followed by a nicely done Edelbrock RPM, 75mm TB, etc etc. To make the big power, you need to have every piece of the puzzle. Good luck!

JE's are nice. SRP & ROSS also make good pistons. Stay away from Keith Black, the top ring-land is thin & has a tendency to crack when detonation occurs.

JE is SRP. SRP is just their standard spec pistons. Call JE and they should have the build specs for what you need/want.
