Anyone know what my compression should be? I gave it a test and all cylinders were about 160 psi. Is this good, bad, what?

When you did the test were all of the spark-plugs out at the same time??...And did you have the throttle all the way open??...How much was the psi on each cyl.?? Around 160psi I think is good..My 5.0l was about 160psi also..

Dustin if you were to get a Chiltons manual it has a lot of this type of info and other torque specs and other info you need to know that helps out a lot. Not expensive at all. I reccomend you getting one. I'll check for you when I get home.

The 'hot' readings from my motor (55k mile '94 cobra shortblock) were all 165-170 with the throttle left alone (closed) and multiple cranks from a remote starter (like 5) to get peak value on a stock cam, 9:1 compression stock longblock.
being hot or cold can swing it an easy 10 points.

My 200,000 mile motor was 145 psi cold and 155 psi warm. Leak down was anywhere from 20-30% though

does the over all compression of the engine make the psi #s differ???

:
Yes, the static compression ratio of the motor directly affects your compression readings.
