ok yesterday my battery light went on.... and was like f it ill fix it tomorrow(today).. so i go do some test on the alternator, and i find out that it is making 55 volts with the connectors unpluged, but when they are pluggd in, makes 0 volts.... i dont see an external regulator, is it a wire that got messed up? please help i am stummped

yes cobra jeep it is for my lx. it wont charge and the battery light is on. if i unplug both connectors on the alternator and have it run, it says my snap on meter that it is putting out 55 volts at 4000 rpm.....

buy a 1 wire powermaster, problem solved

no it worked fine until i turned the gain on the amp more, and then it started to stop working

you probably fried your alternator, get a new one.

the alternator is making the power out of the alternator with the connectors unpluged, so that makes me think that it still works, is there a fusible link that if it breaks will make the alternator not charge.....

ok ***UPDATE****

i installed a new voltage regulator, and still same thing... is there a sensing wire that tells the alternator what it is doing.... if so what color???

rob...i have a couple alternators here that you can take your pic from. if one of them works for you, you can have it. since my xmas present to you was to let you race the 93 beater, ill just give you an alternator.
