WTF!, I don't abuse the car (to often) and after 4K mi there is this chattering noise coming from the clutch. It goes away if I pump the clutch pedal once or twice. The service writer tells me that the service manager does not want to replace the clutch under warranty! What the hell is that all about? Of course he's not here today so the service writer cannot ask him why! I was talking to a salesman who has a '00 Stang and he said he had the same problems and it turned out to be a stretched clutch cable. Has anyone ever had or heard of a clutch cable causing issues like this?

No I have never heard that. Usually a that is caused by oil on the clutch or hot spots on the flywheel.

common on the 99 and newers. Sounds like the clutch cable is out of adjustment. Pull up on the clutch pedal with your hand, pump it 5 times, see if it gets better, if not try again once or twice more. If it doesn't go away you may want to pick up an adjustable clutch quadrant like the UPR or steeda one. Mine used to do this.

He doesnt have much of a choice. If there is a problem, they need to fix it.

clutch is a wearable item. They can see how its worn and make a decision then whether or not to replace it. But if it is not covered by warranty at that point you are stuck with the bill

It used to make a chattering noise when at a stoplight?

oh yeah it did. I took it to TRY2PAZ and rob and they said it was that, and walla, it was fixed. On a side note i smoked the shit out of that stock clutch a few months later and threw a real clutch in, but yes, that should fix your problem

Did you fix it simply by pushing up on the clutch pedal or by did you get the adjuster? If you got the adjust how difficult is the install?
This is my second clutch in 19K mi. I have a King Cobra in it now. If it's just the cable I wonder if my clutch itself is ok? Somedays it felt normal then other days it felt like shit!

Ok, originally i just did the self-adjusting method by pushing down, then back up, but now that I got the Spec Stage 2, i'm putting an adjustable clutch quadrant from UPR in. I'll let you know how easy it is next weekend.

Update:
Fremont Ford called and said that my clutch was worn down to the rivets! They said they won't cover this since it a wear item and it's over 12k mi! The clutch was only put in over 4k mi ago! There must me something else going on that fried the clutch like that.
