I just purchased my 98 Cobra about 4 days ago and was gonna use it as both a daily driver and drag. Was wondering what kind of mods would be a good first few while keeping it still good for the daily drive??? Thanks!

Steeda Underdrive pullies, Pro 5.0 or Steeda Tri-Ax short throw shifter, off road or catted h or x pipe, Lower Control Arms

4.10 gears...they are not as bad as everyone thinks for a daily driver and they are great for the track!!. You hit a little below 3k at 80mph.
Good luck.

4.10's, Drag Radials, Pro 5.0, Long tubes, shorty h-pipe off road, and some aftermarket mufflers.

Then get some underdrive pulleys and a densecharger if you have the extra cash.

How fast do you want to go? How much are you willing to spend?

I have a part-time job that i use the money for mods only so that gives me about 600 or so a month. Plus i want to run somewhere in the upper 12's when all said and done...faster if possible (keep in mind it doubles as a daily driver).

Thanks for all the input ill take everything into consideration!

with 600 a month you could afford some weld draglites with ET streets (so you could drive to the track or runs) if you didicated one months pay to that.

If it were my car, I would put in a clutch, install full exhaust (LT's), 4:10's, pullies,
short shifter, and them soem NOS (75shot or so)
That should get you low 12's

From experiance, the first mod should be 4.10 gears ($520) installed at Rear End Specialties
Next would be full exhaust (longtubes - $450 - X or H pipe $250 and Cat back $250 + )
Third get some good Drag radials ( BFGoodridge are better for traction but dont last as long, Nittos Last longer but traction not as good as BF's)They both run from $160 + each.

off road H-pipe, cold air system (Densecharger, WMS), Pullies, timing adjuster, slicks on V6 rims, no front sway bar and 4.30 rear gears (very livable, trust me [Wink] ) = 12's

ok save up a couple of months get a supercharger and 3:55 gears and you should have a nice daly driver 12 second car, don't do lots of mods or run high boost and you car will still be reliable.

So you recommend 3:55 over 3:73?

Only if you get a supercharger.

I know he'll flame me for this, but he is probably the only person on this board that will tell you to get 3:55's over 3:73's, 4:10's or even 4:30's. The hard core guys here would say at least 4:10's, and maybe even 4:30's since you have high revving cobra.

get some 3.55 gears to stay easy on the gas mileage, get a supercharger(Vortech with Aftercooler or Pro-Charger with intercooler), get a street legal full exhaust kit such as shorties catted x and 2 chamber flows, if you don't give a rats ass about smog like most people here then get long tubes off road X and some 1 chambers, then get some drag radials and you have one fast cobra for about $5000. After scanning my mod-motor upgrade manual I found the chapter on final-drive ratios, and it reads:

5 Speed GT-3.73s or 4.10s
Automatic GT-4.10s

Cobra-4.10s or 4.30s
