One of the best tips i can offer you racers out there is to pay attention to how your car STOPS. Cars need to have good brakes, regardless of weight, check your rotors often. If the pedal is soft or mushy, then there's a problem somewhere. Make sure you have the correct pressure in the front and the rear.
Also, I believe parachutes are very important. Make sure they are in good shape and packed correctly and pointed in the right direction. I think that if you have a car that runs 148mph or faster in the quarter and it weights 3000 pounds and runs skinny tires you need a chute.
Another deal is wheel balancing. If i wouldn't drive my truck without balanced wheels, why would i drive my racecar without doing the same thing?
People don't seem to understand what happens with what they call Progressive nitrous systems. All they do is turn the current on and off. So, for example, if you have a 300 horsepower system on your car and turn it down to 50 percent your not really getting 150 horsepower. Instead of the thing being on all the time, it acts just like a duty cycle on fuel injection..it just turns the system on and off. That means you are getting a big hit of nitrous half the time..boom! boom! boom!...then your timing is going up and down with it too, which causes problems. It's this kind of stuff that is common sense, but a lot of folks just don't realize it. Hope this helps.

Balance slicks too? What if they spin on the rim? Screw them down to make sure they don't? Thanks again for the helpful tips.

Yes you should balance your slicks too. Just screw them down like you said. You'll be surprised how much more it helps. Take care.

Find a junkyard 460 and you might be closer than you think to needing a 'chute
