I finally swapped in my tokiko rear shocks (the 5 way deals) and what do I see when I'm pulling back the trunk area? Why two little weezer 6x9 factory speakers! OMG! Like a kid in a candy store I eagerly tossed them in the trash.

Also, the mount holding the rear quad shock I ditched too, surprisingly heavy, easily another pound total just for that, lol.
I'm going to look in the door and dash for speakers, I thought I already did that years ago, must've not really tried too hard, lol. [worship]

Have you taken out your wiper moter yet?

Posted by shade-tree (Member # 298) on :

Wiper motor still hangin' tough. It doesn't work at all speeds though, probably just the switch, lol.
I have torque box damage [Frown] that has to be fixed before I run again. My control arms have like a 20 degree angle 'cause the box is all twisted [Frown]

waaaahhh [Frown] [Big Grin]

port and cross drill your gas cap, easy 2 lbs right there.

Or you can also drill holes in your rear bumper to save some weight. [Wink]

HAVE U TAKEN OUT UR FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS?

Posted by shade-tree (Member # 298) on :

no, that's nuts.
unmolested doors, dashboard, headliner, bumpers, etc. I'm not going crazy with this car.
it was 2730#'s empty at one point [Big Grin]
(aluminum heads)

I saved about 5#'s total last night by swapping to v6 front seats instead of my craptastic LX front seats [Big Grin]
with rail, an LX front seat weighs about 38#'s, the '99+ v6 front seats are about 35-36#'s with rails. LOL. [worship]

Do you still have a front sway bar?

Posted by jmcclesk (Member # 1355) on :

with A/C compressor, and smog pump, and speakers I didn't see and 1/4 tank, it was 2950#'s without me this past saturday [worship] , and that includes the McCleod Bellhousing (40#), a Tremec 3550 (extra 40#) and a passenger seat (nother extra 40#) lol.
so 3150 with me right now.
I think I can squeak it down to under 3000 lbs. raceweight with aluminum heads in about a month.
(-40 lbs. passenger seat, smog+A/C = -25 lbs, -speakers -4 lbs, aluminum heads -50 lbs, that leaves me about 30 more lbs. to find, which I could do with my summit plastic bucket seat, lol!)
haven't had a front swaybar in a *long* time, and possibly I could play with ditching the rear swaybar, but I don't know if that's wise, I don't have an airbag either for the right rear spring but I should get one.
