I have a 302 block (its a roller motor) but i dont know what year it is or how strong the short block parts are. Does anyone know a site/book that will have casting numbers and details on them.

Don't worrie, if it's a roller block then it's like 86-95ish.
They are all like the same deal and not that strong.
They can take quite a lot of power and abuse but excessive blow-by and bearing wera is a very common problem.
Get a 302 sportsman FRP block or a 351w block and start W/ that if you wanna make real power.

Note: you could make 500hp all day long on a stock 5.0 short block and it won't even squak.....
as long as your motor is well tuned Bro.
Hope this 2cents helps dog [patriot]
